Fire burns building housing Edmond guitar pedal manufacturer

EDMOND — Keeley Electronics, a company that builds electric guitar pedals for musicians around the world, lost its inventory and workspace in a fire Thursday afternoon, a company spokesman said.
"I'm pretty sure it'll be a total loss as far as parts and inventory," said Dusty Wayne Nelson, lead technician and employee of six years. "We're a company that makes over $4 million in a year with 15 employees."
Keeley Electronics has made pedals for The Flaming Lips, Brooks & Dunn, Brad Paisley, ZZ Top, Death Cab for Cutie, Wilco and dozens of other musicians since 2001, Nelson said.
It only took about an hour for seven years of work to be destroyed by flames.
Firefighters responded to the blaze about 3:30 p.m. and found the building on the southeast corner of Interstate 35 and Waterloo Road engulfed in flames, Edmond Assistant Fire Chief Tim Wheeler said. Cold, windy conditions complicated firefighters' efforts to extinguish the inferno, Wheeler said.
"I think we can be up and running again in no less than two months. I'm not worried about the company. I'm worried about the employees," Nelson said.
Nelson said another local woodworking and cabinetry business was damaged in the fire. The bottom floor was formerly occupied by Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, but Nelson said they moved out in late 2007 or early 2008.
"Considering the times we're in, when everyone is broke, it's going to be tough, but we'll get through it," Nelson said.
Robert Keeley started Keeley Electronics from his Oklahoma City home in 2001. The business moved to a trailer and then a portable building before taking up residence in the current facility three years ago, Nelson said.
Keeley Electronics has a second facility in Oklahoma City that builds road cases for musicians and employs eight.

Howdy folks!
Still in a bit of shock to say the least, but I think we will make it in short order. Everyone got out without being hurt. I got a chance to go in last night with a Fire Marshall/Brigade Commander (or something like that) and the worst damage occured to our parts inventory. I had some rare treasures there for sure (thousands of IC's for EM5 clones, the hundreds of last opto-couplers on earth for the Mutron III, Telefunken parts) but nothing that would stop the world from spinning.
The best news it seems is that insurance is paid up and is with a good company. The stock of built pedals, unmodified pedals, etc. all made it I think. (Dealers out there, your orders made it without even water damage! We may have to rebox.) I think all of the one-of-a-kind and collector stuff made it as well. Smoke damaged for sure, but not water damaged. I think the Fire Department responded as fast as possible and even impressed themselves. I heard them joking that they couldn't believe how much survived and how well they did! I can't believe that with the fire raging so long that we didn't loose more. (Just the "recent" $25K remodeled area! :-( oh well, People are Safe and Well!!!!)
What started it? Don't know, could have been where we smoke, or our solder pot room, or even another guy in the building that has a shop. I can't tell>>>seems like investigators will be interviewing people today.
Well, off to pick up what I can and get a plan into action. I hope it remains as positive as it seemed with the dim flashlight last night.
With my brother managing the second Keeley shop, we have a nice safe place for everything and will try to get back to work as soon as possible.
This is uncharted ground, but I'm sure we will figure it out. Thanks so much for all of your concern, I know all of the employees would appreciate it if they could see your words and thoughts about this.

EITA ... U$4.000.000,00 por ano com 15 empregados????? E ainda começaram em 2001 (não é uma empresa com tempo de mercado como os concorrentes dele)?????
Isso que é trabalhar bem e com seriedade ....
E o cara comentou que nem estava preocupado com a empresa, estava preocupado com os empregados ...
O Keeley comentou:

"Sorte" que o seguro estava em dia ...

- Pedais Keeley BF e AF (Before Fire e After Fire).
Ou mesmo itens mais raros, considerando o estrago que a fumaça fez, o que obrigará a empresar a produzir novas embalagens.

E vai começar aquele papo de que os pedais do antes do incêndio é que eram os bons e o timbre era melhor, diferenciado, pois os componentes melhores estavam nesta fábrica. hehehehe

Aproveitando o tópico, vocês conhecem o DD3 modificado da Keeley? Eu sei que você pode adicionar efeitos apenas nas repetições...

No site da Keeley tem um exemplo de um DD3 com um chorus...
A verdade é que quero um delay compacto, mas diferenciado.. para que eu possa criar um timbre legal... (já tive um echo park line6, mas precisei vender)...
Se eu usar um pedal nesse "loop" do DD3, este mesmo pedal só funcionaria com o DD3 ligado?
